Get a Safe Ride After Hours
Through Sunday, February 16, Safe Ride vans will follow their current route schedule. Starting on Monday, February 17, request your ride with the TripShot app.
UofR Safe Ride offers all students, including undergraduates and graduates, safe and reliable late-night transportation between University properties and residence halls. Three Safe Ride vans operate after University shuttles stop running and can usually arrive within minutes, depending on availability. Request your on-demand ride through the TripShot app. Rides are free with University ID.
- Hours: Safe Ride vans operate nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the academic year. Service is unavailable during breaks and University holidays.
- Locations: SafeRide provides rides between any two of the following stops:
- River Campus: Rush Rhees Library, Carlson Library, Todd Union
- Medical Center: School of Medicine, Golisano Children’s Hospital Upper Loop
- Residential Areas: Hill Court, Jackson Court, Southside, University Park, Riverview, Brooks Crossing, Whipple Park, Goler House, Innovation Square
- Eastman School of Music (Eastman Living Center)

How to request a ride
First Time Riders
- Download the Tripshot app from your phone’s app store.
- In Setup, enter your Service Name: “UofR Safe Ride” and click “Next.”
- Select “Log in with UR Active Directory.”
- Enter your UR or URMC Active Directory username and password.
Request your ride with TripShot
- From the TripShot home screen select “On demand.”
- Tap “Where would you like to go,” to see your options.
- Select your destination.
- Review your pickup location and the pickup/drop off times.
- Tap “Pick-up note” to add a building number or other special requests for the driver.
- Click on “Request ride” to confirm your trip.
- Go to “My Trips” to see your on-demand rides.
- You will receive push notifications and in-app updates about the status of your ride.
